Food Security

Building resilient communities starts with income equity and policy change. Together, we can tackle food insecurity by addressing income—not just hunger.

Hands in the Soil

Priority # 2: Food Security

Food insecurity in Canada is a growing public health crisis, affecting one in four households and disproportionately impacting single parents, renters, and racialized communities. Drawing on evidence-based research, our goal is to focus our conversations on improving  income-based interventions as an effective solution. By collaborating on  greater policy accountability, urging governments to set measurable targets and invest in strategies that directly improve household incomes the NOW Network focuses on upstream interventions.

We are grateful to work in the traditional, unceded territory of the Snuneymuxw, Snaw’naw’as and Qualicum First Nations who have lived here and cared for these lands and waterways since
time immemorial. We respectfully honour the traditions and teachings that are shared with us while we walk together with First Nations, Metis and Inuit relatives who live here.
