Naut'sa Mawt Oceanside Wellness Network
The Naut'sa mawt Oceanside Wellness Network or NOW Network is a network of people, agencies and organizations within the Regional District of Nanaimo who share a vision of enhanced well-being for all those living here. Working together NOW members seek to foster a shared understanding of our communities’ strengths and identify opportunities where we can collaboratively support community-driven initiatives to positively impact social determinants of health, taking a preventative and upstream approach.

Our Priorities
Healthy children are a foundational social determinant of health because early physical, emotional, and cognitive development sets the trajectory for lifelong well-being.
Consistent access to nutritious, culturally appropriate food directly influences physical, mental, and emotional well-being. When individuals and families face food insecurity, they are at greater risk for chronic diseases, developmental challenges, and social stress.

Access to stable, safe, and affordable housing provides the foundation for physical and mental well-being.
Network governance provides the framework for organizing and sustaining multi-sector collaborations that are essential for addressing complex community health challenges.
Social connectedness is a key social determinant of health because strong relationships and a sense of belonging contribute significantly to emotional well-being, resilience, and overall health outcomes
Transportation is a vital social determinant of health because it directly affects access to essential services such as healthcare, education, employment, and nutritious food.

Our Purpose
At the Naut’sa mawt Oceanside Wellness Network, we are dedicated to improving the wellbeing of community members through united efforts and community-driven solutions that enhance social determinants of health upstream. Together, we tackle complex challenges to create a healthier, more equitable future for all.
